Vancouver uses numbered citations in order of appearance. Use this generator as a draft, then match your journal’s ICMJE / Vancouver variant for punctuation and superscripts.
Number citations in the order sources first appear in the text- Use Arabic numerals in parentheses or as superscripts per your journal
- List authors as Last FM; apply et al. after the required author limit
- Abbreviate journal titles using Index Medicus / NLM conventions
- Include DOI when available for journal articles
- Always double-check volume, issue, and page ranges
